Evelyn Vaughan Patton, age 83 of Amelia, passed away peacefully with family by her side on April 16, 2024. She was born to the late George Leslie Vaughan and Eunice Maxey Vaughan on Thanksgiving Day, November 21, 1940.
Evelyn loved spending time with her family and was overjoyed with the birth of each new grandchild and great-grandchild. She doted on her beloved Chihuahua, Tido, who was faithfully by her side. She was a member of Sandy Creek Baptist Church and absolutely loved going to hear the Sandy Creek Gospel Bluegrass Band anytime and anywhere they were performing.
She is survived by her daughter Donna Patton of the home, daughter Terry and son-in-law Joseph Bridges of Callaway, VA; grandchildren Shirley “Kate” (Matthew) Perry of Mechanicsville, VA; Sarah (Nathaniel) Chance of Penhook, VA; Rebecca Bridges (Jared Mills) of Ferrum, VA; and James Harvey Bridges (Gabrielle Jackson) of Callaway, VA; Great Grandchildren Paisley Mills, Elsie Chance, Sebastian Mills, Vernon Chance and Campbell Perry. She is also survived by her sister Deborah (Henry) Mason of Amelia, half-sister Leslie Lee Davis of Amelia, half-brother George (Sherry) Vaughan of Amelia, step mother Jennie Vaughan of Amelia and former spouse Henry (Hazel) Patton of Jetersville, and many beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was predeceased by her parents George Leslie Vaughan and Eunice Maxey Vaughan, and her beloved brother Albert Wyatt Vaughan.
The family would like to express their deepest thanks and gratitude to Suncrest Hospice and specifically her care team, Dorothy, Tish, Allison, Rebecca and Robin, who helped us give mom the very best care in her final weeks. Visitation will be held on Friday from 6-8PM at the Hillsman-Hix Funeral Home 16409 Court St. in Amelia with chapel services at 11AM on Saturday at the funeral home with burial in Rennie Memorial Cemetery.
